Krystal Hill
Co-Chair

Krystal Hill is from Houston, Texas. After graduating from Princeton University with a B.A. in History, she taught middle school English in Mississippi then high school Chemistry in Texas. She is interested in Gastroenterology, Cardiology, Emergency Medicine, URM recruitment, and community outreach. While at Princeton, Krystal helped the women's basketball team win two Ivy League Championships. In her free time, she enjoys playing ball, reading, community service, and spending time with friends and family. 

Moses Murdock
Co-Chair
Johnson's Scholars 

Originally from Orlando, Florida, Moses is a graduate of the University of Central Florida with a degree in Molecular Biology and Microbiology. He then spent 2 years at the National Institutes of Health investigating the genetic underpinnings of novel primary immunodeficiencies. He is interested in oncology, infectious diseases and diversity in medicine. In his free time, Moses enjoys reading, running and eating inordinate amounts of sour gummy worms.

Chukwuma Onyebeke
Treasurer

Chukwuma Onyebeke is from Long Island. He majored in Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology at Yale College. He’s interested in cardiology, public health and healthy policy. Outside of school he enjoys listening to podcasts, reading science fiction, following politics, biking and exploring new restaurants. 

Richard Campbell

Richard Campbell was raised in the sunny city of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Prior to moving to Philadelphia for medical school, he obtained a bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience from the University of Miami, were he also served as a natural science tutor. His interests include pediatric orthopedics, economics, sports and all things sugar related.

Shelley Thomas

Alex is originally from Seattle where she received a degree in Chemistry at the University of Washington. Now entering her final year in medical school, Alex plans on applying into Emergency Medicine with hopes of focusing on wilderness medicine in order to incorporate her love for the outdoors into her career. Outside of school, Alex enjoys refining her skills in the culinary arts, traveling, catching wild Pokemon, and reminiscing over her failed dreams of becoming a broadway dancer.

Shelley was born and raised in Philadelphia. After graduating from Harvard University in 2011 with a degree in African and African American Studies, she joined Teach For America as a science teacher in Jacksonville, Florida. Shelley remained in the classroom for an additional year after completing the corps and eventually went on to join TFA staff as a science coach. She is interested in minority health and HIV and hopes to pursue a career in family medicine. Shelley is married and is the proud mother of a very happy and energetic toddler.

Alex Azan
Media Correspondent
 

Alex Azan, MS2, is the media chair for the SNMA chapter at the Perelman School of Medicine. As a first-generation American of Jamaican heritage, Alex strives to honor his diverse cultural background in both his personal and professional life. As an undergraduate, he studied biology and studio art, with a concentration in photography, at Tufts University. He hopes to continue his exploration of medium to fortify or challenge narratives derived from his personal and shared spaces. Outside of his involvement with SNMA, Alex is an executive board member with Unity Health Clinic, a volunteer with the Human Rights Clinic, and a research investigator in a viral arthritis study in the Rheumatology department at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

Social Chair 

Vie was born in Miami, FL and has been hopping about the northeast, since. In 2013, she graduated with a BA in Biology from Cornell University in Ithaca, NY and subsequently worked for two years at a community clinic in Rochester, NY. She is always happy to explore the outdoors, a museum, a good book and anything that will be funny later. Currently, she serves as the SNMA's social chair.

Carolyn Wright 
Recruitment Co-Chair

Chase Richard, a graduate of Stanford University, is currently taking two years off from medical school to complete an MBA degree from Stanford University. He will be working remotely as SNMA's netwrok chair. During his first three years at Penn Med, Chase founded Johnson's Scholars and was co-chair for SNMA. He's also fairly decent at basketball. 

Carolyn is from Arlington, VA and majored in Middle Eastern Literature at Harvard in 2009. She comes to Penn after six years working in the healthcare industry and volunteering with DC harm-reduction organizations. Her current interests include hematology, immunology and LGBT health advocacy. In her free time, she enjoys baking, reading, and perfecting her Prince impressions.

Dr. Sharon Lewis​
Faculty Advisor 

Dr. Lewis is a general neurologist at Penn, and a graduate of the University of Miami School of Medicine. She completed residency and fellowship training at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. She is actively involved in mentorship at the collegiate level, helping to lead Penn's Pipeline Program
